Luke Higham keen to cement Telford spot

Defender Luke Higham is determined to use the remaining four games to cement himself in AFC Telford's squad and boost his Blackpool future.

The on-loan Bloomfield Road left-back has played just 85 minutes of Rob Smith's side's last 10 games – including sitting out the back-to-back crunch victories against Stalybridge and Worcester.

Higham, 20, is completely over the ankle ligament and hamstring complaint that frustratedly stagnated his progression at the New Bucks Head.

His two-year Blackpool pro contract runs out this summer.

The 20-year-old said: "My main objective is to get a deal at Blackpool.

"I'm not sure when they'll be looking at that as they're concentrating on the play-offs. But to play the final four games for Telford will be ideal for me.

"It's been frustrating because I was in a good run of form but the ankle injury I got was unlucky. I sat out the couple of wins but the team were beat 3-0 and I can use it as a chance to get back in and cement my place in the team.

"I want to take that chance."

Higham knows the final games of the season are a chance to showcase his talents.

"It's a strange game," he added. "It might be an option (to stay) but you never know. A Blackpool deal is my objective."
