Larry Chambers: AFC Telford 'just not good enough'

AFC Telford United assistant boss Larry Chambers insists the side are 'just not good enough' after a 4-2 loss to Nuneaton Town.

The Bucks started well but went two down as former Telford man Greg Mills and Jordan Nicholson each capitalised on defensive errors to score.

The hosts drew level before half-time, through Ben Bailey and Lee Hughes, but Mills and Nicholson both found the net again in the second half to seal the win.

Telford are not mathematically safe with two games to play, and Chambers said: "The realisation is that the group of players are just not good enough.

"We can turn in performances like at Stockport (a 1-1 draw on Good Friday) but generally, over the course of the season, we haven't had the mentality to put performances in week in, week out.

"All the goals, and that is the disappointing thing, were down to individual mistakes. We got back to 2-2 at half-time, and I think we got out of jail.

"We got two goals against the run of play, I couldn't see us scoring but you take it and, psychologically, we were in the ascendancy."

He added: "Then we come out for the second half and concede within something like 90 seconds so we don't give ourselves a chance, it's like shooting yourself in the foot - and that is down to the mentality of the players.

"It was an uphill task from then. People are just making the wrong decisions time after time after time."
