Eddie Jones could play last two games for AFC Telford despite hernia

AFC Telford United assistant boss Larry Chambers insists Eddie Jones's hernia will not become 'any worse' if he plays the last two games of the season – and has provided an update on more struggling players.

The midfielder is due to see a consultant about having an operation on the problem, but has featured in the last two games – starting the 1-1 draw at Stockport County last Friday and coming on as a substitute as the Bucks lost 4-2 against Nuneaton Town on Monday.

Chambers said: "Eddie needs a hernia operation and we have been advised by the medical people that if he continues to play in the meantime, he's not going to make it any worse.

"He'll play as and when required really. I think he is due to see a consultant and, because he has private healthcare, I would expect the operation to happen pretty quickly."

Also not at 100 per cent are Dwayne Samuels (thigh) and Elliot Hodge (calf).

Dave Hibbert (quad) and Jon Royle (groin) have sat out in recent weeks too.

"Dwayne is struggling. He won't train tomorrow, we'll assess how he feels and make a decision for (the trip to Darlington on) Saturday," said Chambers.

"Elliot injured his calf so I don't know what the situation with him will be. He is being monitored by (parent club) Lincoln City's medical people. Jon Royle will probably be OK. Dave Hibbert, we don't know, he might be."
