Bernard McNally: Tough task for AFC Telford next season

The National League North has clubs where owners are arriving with £10million or £15million in the bank and throwing money at it, which could mean another tough season for AFC Telford United next year.

It's a very tough ask for Rob Smith and the Bucks staff to deal with that sort of financial competition, writes Bernard McNally.

As a manager, you're only as good as the players you've got. You can often tell the strength of a club by those sat on the bench.

Despite all the tactics and everything else, you want good group of quality players that are physical, athletic, want to work together and be a team.

Let's face it, players won't come to the New Bucks Head for £200 when they can get £500 elsewhere.

It means tough competition but that's Rob's forte at this level trying to get the best players.

Saturday's visitors Harrogate have a very good budget and are turning full-time. It's a marker of where you are, sometimes supporters have to take a step back and realise.

Players won't come to play here just because it's AFC Telford United. It's a harsh reality of life.
