Dwayne Samuels wants to be a part of AFC Telford's future

The 26-year-old right-back – who has played the most games for the Bucks this term, 40 in National League North – does not yet know what his future holds.

Boss Smith and assistant boss Larry Chambers are looking to rebuild the squad, and are due to hold meetings with all of the players over the close season.

Ahead of tomorrow's game against Harrogate Town at the New Bucks Head – the last of the current term – Samuels said: "I am in the same boat as everyone else. I'm not sure what Rob and Larry want.

"For everyone involved, it has not been good enough this season and we take responsibility for that.

"For myself, it's been two years of avoiding relegation.

"We had high hopes at the start of the season but it hasn't happened and as players it brings you down.

"You don't go away at 5pm on a Saturday after a game and forget, it gets you down."

Samuels has become a fan favourite at the New Bucks Head for his undeniable work ethic.

He would like to repay the fans for their loyal support and when asked if he wants to stay, he said: "If given the chance, I would like to have the opportunity and see what happens but it's about what Rob and Larry want.

"If I'm not in the plans, it has been a great time and I'll always have fond memories of the club and the fans.

"If I am in the plans, that would be great and I would try my best to help get us back where we should be."

Samuels used to play for tomorrow's opponents Harrogate, and was signed by their current boss Simon Weaver.

He joined them in 2012 and spent two years at the club before going to Brackley Town and then joining Telford for a second spell in October 2015.

Samuels admits it is a fixture he always looks forward to and added: "On a personal level, it is my favourite fixture of the season – home and away.

"I had a great time at Harrogate so it's one I always look forward to, I look out for it at the start of the season.

"As a team, first and foremost, it's about putting in a positive performance and hopefully getting the three points as it's not been easy this season for Telford fans.

"Harrogate are going full-time in the summer and will be be looking to progress, competing at the top end next season– play-offs at least.

"They will be looking to end the season on a high so it will be a tough game for us."
