Jasbir Singh rejected rivals for AFC Telford
Jasbir Singh rejected a move to defeated play-off semi-finalists Kidderminster Harriers before opting for AFC Telford United, he has revealed.
The 27-year-old goalkeeper has been a long-time target of boss Rob Smith – who tried to sign him while still in charge of Hednesford Town – but finally agreed to swap Gloucester City for the New Bucks Head this summer.
However, Harriers – who finished second in National League North before losing to Chorley in the play-offs – almost secured his signature first.
“Being full-time is the main thing that stopped me joining Kidderminster,” said Singh, from Birmingham. “I had a meeting with Kiddie on the Tuesday and the set-up there is unbelievable, it is so different from when I was there last time.
“But I’m at the age now where I just can’t commit (to full-time).
“I met with Telford on the Wednesday and it was agreed.
“It’s a nice relief when you’re at work and not talking about football.
“But Telford are a massive club and if we get it right here, then it’ll be right.”
