Rob Smith is keen to continue with his squad rebuild.

Shaw, who will be stepping up a league after leaving Evo-Stik League Northern Premier League side Grantham Town, becomes the club’s 15th summer signing.

Smith said he was thrilled to have won the race for Shaw’s signature, who had attracted the attention of several fellow National League North clubs.

“I am delighted to have signed Luke who was a very sought-after quick winger who had many options to choose from,” he said.

“Once we had met him and he heard what we were trying to achieve he was desperate to sign.”

Shaw scored 11 goals from midfield in 55 games last season for The Gingerbreads. The 21-year-old had only signed for Grantham last year having come through the Ilkeston academy.

The Nottingham-born youngster has also enjoyed a loan spell at Northern Premier League Division One South side Belper Town during his fledging career.

Smith, who is still looking for new faces to add to his small squad following a number of departures, added: “Luke will be a young and hungry lad with plenty of talent and I am over the moon to have signed him.”

Smith still hopes to beef up his strikeforce and is eager to bag a goalscorer after releasing Dave Hibbert and seeing Lee Hughes depart for a career in management at the end of the season.

Telford, who scored just 38 goals in 42 league games on their way to a 17th-place finish in National League North last season, have also snapped up full-back Jordan Gough, former Worcester City winger Chekaine Steele, midfielder Kieran Dunbar, former Shrewsbury duo John Marsden and Jasbir Singhm ex-Newtown captain Shane Sutton.

Paul McCone, Zak Lilly and Jon Royle have all agreed to remain with the club.

Meanwhile, the futures of a couple of players from last season have yet to be revealed.

Full-back Dwayne Samuels and midfielder Jack Rea were both regulars last campaign and uncetainty surrounds those two.

Smith added: “There are a couple with offers on the table, and the ball is in their court. I am still waiting to hear from a couple.”
