League is getting tougher, Jaz Singh warns AFC Telford
New AFC Telford keeper Jaz Singh has warned that National North will be tougher than ever next season.
Singh joined the Bucks this summer after opting to leave Gloucester City when they were moved to the the league’s southern section.
But before that he spent several years in National North and believes achieving success gets harder year by year.
“I wouldn’t have left Gloucester had they not been moved to the south, but that’s football,” said the 27-year-old.
“I’ve been in the Conference North for six or seven seasons now and it’s definitely getting stronger.
“I think it’s the strongest now it’s ever going to be.
“This season is going to be massive and we want to get off to a good start to get the fans right behind us, that’ll give us momentum.”
Singh has received a warm welcome from Telford supporters with a number contacting him on social media.
And while he now has a good rapport with the Bucks faithful, he admits his Shrewsbury links meant that hasn’t always the case.
“I really appreciate all of the comments, I had the same from Gloucester fans after leaving too," he added.
“The first time I played against Telford for Solihull I got absolutely battered by the Telford fans.
“I was only in the Shrewsbury youth team so I thought they might not know but obviously they did!
“It’s worn off over the years though. Hopefully they’ll let it slide. I liked it at Shrewsbury, I love Shropshire. They love football.”
