The Bucks chief had another chance to shape his squad today as they hosted phoenix club Hereford.

Twenty-year-old Kieran Dunbar was the surprise occupant of the captain's armband in last Saturday's 1-0 loss to Wolves' under-23s.

On handing the armband to the former Birmingham City and Fleetwood Town midfielder, Edwards said: "There were some older players starting the game, but I just thought I had a young player in the middle of the pitch, it might bring something out of him.

"I thought it would be good for him, and I wanted to have a look at it. There will be other people given a chance.

"I just wanted to have someone in the middle of the pitch who I thought would benefit from a bit of responsibility."

Jas Singh, Matthew Barnes-Homer and Shane Sutton have also had the armband in recent friendlies.

Goalkeeper Singh and centre-half Sutton are obvious candidates, while midfielder Jack Rea has also skippered the Bucks.

Singh has a number of years' experience in the National League North while Sutton was captain of Welsh top-flight side Newtown.

Manchester-based Rea is the club's longest-serving player, having joined in January 2015.
