A well-contested friendly at the New Bucks Head last night was decided by Elliot Newby's clever strike in the 47th minute.

Edwards took a look at three new trialists too, – Oldham Athletic's Kallum Mantack, Burton Albion's Marcus Dinanga and former Wolves man Regan Upton.

He said: "It's nice to have won the game and build a winning mentality, but there is still lots for us to work on. I have got to stress that.

"There is a lot for us to do, lets not get carried away with it. Shrewsbury have a really good thing going where they are able to sort of split their squad, and gave us a real, real test.

"I thought they were better in the earlier stages and then we grew into the game. I would like us to start games better.

"We weathered the storm and were difficult to break down, and we grew into it. I can't stress enough, though, we can't get carried way with anything.

"There is a lot to build on and we have to use every millisecond that we have with the lads to keep working on it."

As well as the game last night, Telford had a training session on Monday. They are having another one tomorrow night too before their final pre-season friendly at Caernarfon on Saturday.

Edwards said: "Every time we have had them in training, we have got them tomorrow night as well, the lads have been great.

"They have shown a real commitment and it will take all of that to try and build what we want."

On the trialists, Edwards added: "Marcus Dinanga came in. Nigel Clough (Burton boss) was kind enough to let us have him for 45 minutes, and I thought he showed some real class.

"We had a good look at him and I thought he was a real threat so that was great.

"I thought Marcus and Kallum did well in particular, and it was nice to see them for the first time.

"Regan I know well. We know we need to try and still bring a few in, and we are looking to do that and working hard on it."
