The 22-year-old midfielder, a product of Liverpool’s youth set-up, was signed by the Bucks earlier this week.

He made his debut as a second-half substitute in the 3-1 loss to Brackley Town on Tuesday night and impressed with some sharp touches and accurate passing.

Edwards feels he can be used as either an attacking midfielder, a defensive midfielder or perhaps out wide.

He said: “Jordan is a very versatile midfielder. He is a good footballer, first and foremost. We can use him in any one of a number of positions. “He showed (on Tuesday) he likes to get on the ball and make the team play and tick.”

Lussey had spells at Bolton Wanderers, York City and Southport following his Anfield departure two years ago.

He recently returned to full fitness after an ankle injury kept him our for the second half of last term, and spent time on trial at Coventry City over pre-season.

“He is versatile, which is great. I like players that can play in more than one position because it gives you some options,” added Edwards.

“I was really encouraged by his performance.”

Telford are readying up for their third game of the new National League North season, against Salford City at the New Bucks Head on Saturday.

On the start to the season, Edwards said: “They don’t get much tougher, but that’s the league we are in.

“We have got to stand up to the challenge and look forward to the challenge because we have got to believe we are a good team as well and compete with these teams - and we will do.”

The Bucks chief also provided an update on the condition of winger Chekaine Steele, while he hopes Jack Rea will be fit enough for Saturday’s visit of Salford City after missing the Brackley defeat due to a knock to his knee.

Steele was signed from Worcester City this summer but is yet to play for the Bucks due to a hamstring injury which he picked up towards the back end of last season.

“Chekaine is getting closer, he is hoping to be involved in some training tonight so that’s good,” said Edwards.
