McNally column: First home win will help Bucks settle

Saturday’s visit of Bradford Park Avenue is an opportunity for AFC Telford to get under way at the New Bucks Head and relieve some pressure.

They picked up a fine victory at Darlington last time, I was shocked when I saw that result come in but delighted for them.

Bradford PA, usually, are a tough, physical opponent. They’ve had a decent win recently and you can’t take them for granted. There will be pressure at home with Telford needing that first win.

If a poor result comes in come 4.45pm then Rob Edwards’ team can’t keep licking the wounds due to the Bank Holiday double-header. They go to Leamington on Monday.

Those are two tough games there, for me. Particularly going to Leamington, they get good crowds and are always a difficult side to go against.

It’s a local derby, there’ll be a big crowd there. But it’ll be a good one for players to play in, they want a big crowd and let’s hope they can get a double-whammy and come away with all of the spoils.
