Inconsistency of AFC Telford irritating boss Rob Edwards

The Bucks have played eight National League North games this season, the last being a 3-2 home defeat to Blyth Spartans on Saturday.

They have lost all four of their games at the New Bucks Head and won three out of four on the road. They go to Nuneaton Town tomorrow (kick-off 7.45pm).

Summing up how things have gone so far, Edwards said: "Inconsistent.

"We have performed very well away from home and we have performed well, at times, at home.

"The second half on Saturday was as well as we have played all season.

"But it has got to be for 90 minutes. You cannot guarantee 90 minutes of dominating, but you can guarantee 90 minutes of working hard and running.

"That is what is really frustrating me right now, that we did not go out and perform from the start."

There could be a few comings and goings at Telford soon.

Edwards confirmed the club are due to sign Henry Cowans, who was recently released by Aston Villa.

The midfielder had a spell on loan at Stevenage last season and is the son of former Villa star Gordan Cowans.

And there is interest from elsewhere in Chekaine Steele, who is nursing a hamstring injury.

"It looks like there has been a couple of offers come in for Chekaine," added Edwards.

"We have allowed him to talk to a couple of clubs as well so we will see where that goes.

"It looks like we have got Henry Cowans done, a midfield player. And we are still looking in other areas as well, we will continue to do so."

Telford had an awful first half on Saturday, conceding three goals in a wretched eight-minute spell.

They were much improved after the break, pulling two back through Marcus Dinanga and Elliot Newby.

John Marsden, returning after an ankle injury, was introduced shortly before the interval and performed well, calm in possession.

On his contribution, Edwards said: "The midfield area is a vital part of the pitch and the first period, we didn't get to grips with it.

"I thought John was excellent when he came on. I thought he was a real positive.

"It is great to have him back with us but, after that first half, it's something we have still got to look at."
