Nuneaton Town 0 AFC Telford 2 - Report and pictures

This was the Bucks' third straight away win and a fine showing from Rob Edwards' charges.

Dwyer's cool strike put them ahead just over midway through the first period, and Niall Heaton's own goal doubled their advantage in the second.

Telford went into this game with a National League North record of three wins - all on the road - and five losses.

They made four changes to the side that started the 3-2 loss at home against Blyth Spartans on Saturday as Connor Johnson, Henry Cowans, Louis McGrory and John Marsden came in for Aaron Simpson, Jordan Lussey, Jon Royle and Curtis Strong.

Johnson, who has been signed on a one-month loan from Wolves, and Cowans, who has been snapped up after being released by Aston Villa, were making their debuts.

The Bucks were in their red away kit for the first time this campaign, and in their usual 3-5-2 formation.

Their first effort of note for Edwards' side came 12 minutes in when Johnson flicked the ball over at the near post after a low corner.

Nuneaton enjoyed the majority of possession early on - playing short, sharp passes in the middle of the park - and had Jordan Nicholson blaze a shot over after a crisp move.

That was the only goalmouth action of note before Dwyer found the net in the 25th minute.

McGrory's over-the-top through-ball found the 20-year-old striker, who took an excellent touch before slotting the ball past Dean Lyness with his left foot.

It was a great finish, which left the home fans aggrieved as they felt McGrory fouled Tom Elliot before supplying the assist.

Dwyer's strike partner Marcus Dinanga then looked to get amongst the goals. His first effort was wild, flying well over the bar, but his second went close as it rattled the post and went out for a goal-kick.

Telford were in the ascendancy for the rest of the first half, in which Johnson and McGrory picked up yellow cards.

Marsden, who now seems to have fully recovered after a recent ankle injury, had the last go at goal before the interval, cutting inside on to his right foot and firing over the crossbar.

Neither side made a substitution at the break. Nuneaton started the second period brightly, and Bucks goalkeeper Jas Singh had to pull off a fine save to keep out Callum Ball's acrobatic attempt in the 50th minute.

Edwards then brought on Royle for McGrory, who perhaps had another booking in him.

Telford were not seeing a great deal of the ball, but had the pace to threaten on the counter-attack.

And they doubled their lead, against the run of play, in the 62nd minute as Jordan Gough's teasing ball across the face of goal was put into his own net by Heaton.

You could not blame the Nuneaton centre-half for trying to clear as Dwyer was right behind him, ready to tap the ball in.

Marsden then hit the post with what was meant to be a cross before the hosts made a double change, introducing Jamal Adams and Brady Hickey in place of Ball and Ryan Beswick.

The Bucks twice went close to going three ahead, just shy of the 80-minute mark. Firstly, Elliot Newby's chipped ball from the left had to be tipped over the bar by Lyness.

And after the resulting corner, a scramble ensued ensued in the box and Gough, on the stretch, steered the ball wide from just a few yards out.

Edwards' men got themselves in to a spot of bother as Singh rushed off his line and wiped out Nicholson.

The shot-stopper was booked, Nicholson had to limp off, and Hickey's free-kick flew over the bar.

Mitchell Glover came on for the injured Nicholson as the hosts desperately looked to get a goal late on while Telford looked to shore things up at the back, bringing on Curtis Strong for Dinanga.

And Nuneaton had the ball in the net 89 minutes in, but Ashley Chambers was flagged offside after slotting into the corner.

Dwyer almost put the icing on the cake in added-on time, forcing a good stop from Lyness with a left-footed shot.

Another great away day for the Bucks. They face Harrogate Town at the New Bucks Head on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).
