Rob Edwards' side struggled in the first half and Josh Wilson, formerly of Telford, and Marcus Carver netted for the hosts - and Jason Walker had a penalty saved.

In the second, a Marcus Dinanga double - and an Adam Anson sending off - pulled them back level at Victory Park.

But Carver had the final say, finishing after some sloppy defending to seal a hard-fought three points.

Analysis

The Bucks went into this clash 13th in the National League North table and with a fine record on their travels, winning four and losing one.

And the Magpies, who were 12th with a better goal difference, had managed two wins, two draws and a loss at home.

Edwards made two changes to the side that started the 2-0 FA Cup victory against Barwell last weekend as John Marsden and Jordan Lussey came in for Henry Cowans and Louis McGrory.

New signing Ryan Wilson - a 24-year-old left-back - was among the substitutes.

Both sides opted for a 3-5-2 formation, and the home side got off to a flyer.

They went ahead after 10 minutes as the ball fell to former Telford midfielder Wilson on the edge of the 18-yard box and, on the stretch, he fired it into the bottom corner. A great finish from last term's Bucks top scorer.

Their highest goal-getter this term is Dinanga - who now has six - and he was causing problems with his pace as they searched for a swift equaliser.

But instead of levelling, Chorley soon doubled their advantage. Josh O'Keefe beat Telford wing-back Elliot Newby to the punch and played the ball across to Carver, who tucked it in at the near post - 32 minutes in.

And things very nearly went from bad to worse before the interval as skipper Shane Sutton tripped Carver and a penalty was awarded.

Bucks goalkeeper Jas Singh kept them in it, getting down low to his right to keep out Walker's tame spot-kick.

Edwards' charges certainly deserved to be behind at the break but the boss made no changes for the start of the second period.

And the decision to stick to his guns paid dividends as the pendulum swung and Telford grabbed a quick-fire double - Dinanga getting both.

Firstly, in the 50th minute, he burst past Anson, who proceeded to pull the striker's shirt in the box to concede a penalty and pick up a red card.

Dinanga made no mistake from the spot, sending former Bucks shot-stopper Matt Urwin the wrong way.

And within five minutes, he struck again to pull them level by heading in after Newby's corner.

Telford were looking very confident but just as you thought they would go on to get a winner, the 10-man Magpies went back in front.

A lapse in concentration from the Bucks backline saw Carver beat the offside trap, get on the end of an over-the-top ball and slot past Singh for his second of the afternoon - 66 minutes in.

Edwards' instruction from then on was to get the ball out wide and put in crosses towards Dinanga and substitute Jordan Murphy.

Wilson and Cowans were also introduced but the approach did not have the desired effect, and their inconsistency in the league goes on.

Key moments

11 - Goal! Chorley take the lead, Josh Wilson with the strike against his former employers. His low strike from the edge of the area finds the bottom corner.

32 - Goal! It is 2-0 to the home side. Marcus Carver, who has worked very hard up front, slots in after Josh O'Keefe's cut-back.

38 - Penalty to the Magpies. Telford skipper Shane Sutton leaves a leg out and trips Carver in the box.

39 - Penalty saved. Jas Singh gets down to his right quickly and saves Jason Walker's soft attempt from the spot.

50 - Penalty to the Bucks! Adam Anson pulls back Marcus Dinanga in the box and is shown a red card. This could prove to be the turning point.

51- GOAL! Telford are well in this, Dinanga keeps a cool head and sends Matt Urwin the wrong way from the spot.

56 - GOAL! And it's 2-2! Dinanga strikes again. This time, he rises highest to head in after Elliot Newby's corner.

66 - Goal! Chorley go back ahead, through Carver. He slots home after an over-the-top ball catches out the Bucks defence.
