This was an entertaining encounter on Non-League Day at the New Bucks Head, with all the goals coming in the first half.

Skipper Shane Sutton opened the scoring for the hosts before his own goal, leaving Dwyer to grab the spotlight with a sumptuous long ranger.

Boss Rob Edwards will hope this result can spark a positive run in National league North. Rock-bottom North Ferriby United are up next.

Analysis

Telford made one change to the side that began the 4-1 FA Cup win against Stafford Rangers on Tuesday night as Ryan Wilson, making his full debut for the club, came in at left-back for Jordan Gough.

Former Bucks centre-half Shane Killock was in the Pilgrims' starting line-up.

The early stages of the clash were rather scrappy as a lot of long balls were played, without any success.

A few meaty challenges were flying in too and just after letting Boston's Jamie McGuire off for a reckless lunge, referee Declan Bourne decided to book Telford's Ross White for a similar late tackle - to the annoyance of the home fans.

Both sides were struggling to create anything going forward so you suspected if an opening goal was to arrive, it would do so after a set piece.

That proved to be the case as Sutton, just shy of the half-hour mark, poked the ball in at the back post after Wilson's inswinging corner.

The 28-year-old would have been delighted to have got his first Bucks goal and he soon scored again, but at the wrong end.

Jack Thomas crossed the ball from the right-hand side and Sutton's header lopped over Jas Singh, into his own net via the post.

It all seemed set to be level at the break but Dwyer had other ideas as, right before the half-time whistle, he got the Telford faithful on their feet with a superb long-range shot - glancing the woodwork on its way in.

Shortly into the second period, McGuire was cautioned for yet another poor challenge.

The Bucks were soon dominating play and pushing for a third. Sutton went very near once more, his header smashing the crossbar and flying away from danger.

John Marsden then stung the palms of Pilgrims goalkeeper George Willis after a fine attacking move also involving Dwyer.

Boston had made all three changes with more than quarter of an hour left.

One of them was target man Gregg Smith and they took a far more direct approach as they looked to find a leveller.

Telford brought on Jordan Murphy, Jordan Lussey and Louis McGrory as they closed the game out in a professional manner, claiming a deserved three points.

Key Moments

29 - GOAL! Skipper Shane Sutton scores for Telford, for the first time. He escapes his marker to finish at the back post after Ryan Wilson's great delivery from a corner.

40 - Goal! Boston draw level through a Sutton own goal. Jack Thomas crosses and the Bucks defender heads past Jas Singh, going in via the upright.

45- GOAL! Telford go back ahead and what a stunner that is from Anthony Dwyer! He lets fire from 25 yards out and it glances the post on its way into the net. That will be a goal of the season contender.
