Don't stop believing, says AFC Telford boss Rob Edwards
AFC Telford United boss Rob Edwards has urged his players to 'keep working hard and keep believing' after suffering a third successive away loss.
The Bucks were defeated 3-1 at FC United of Manchester on Saturday, slipping to 14th in National League North.
After 17 games, they are four points off the play-offs and six clear of the relegation places.
"It's a true reflection of us at the moment," said Edwards.
"We have been very up and down in terms of results.
"We need to find some more consistency again now, performances are not consistent enough throughout the 90 minutes.
"We need to find that and manage the game better.
"If we are having a tough period in a game, we need to not concede – that is something to work on as well.
"We know we are good enough to win football matches and climb back up.
"We have got to keep believing – keep working hard and keep believing."
Telford lacked a ruthlessness in both boxes as they lost at Broadhurst Park.
United No.10 Jason Gilchrist scored twice and got the assist for Tom Greaves' goal, after Henry Cowans put the Bucks ahead with a wonderful strike.
"That final bit is so important, we have worked on it a lot over the last couple of weeks," said Edwards.
"We are getting into good positions but that final ball has to be better.
"We have to work the opposition goalkeeper more. It's something we will continue to work on.
"We have to demand more, that's the name of the game."
On the defence, he added: "I think every team makes mistakes.
"I'll look back over it and judge where we could have been better – who could have been better.
"I always try and review and reflect, and try to learn from it."
Edwards credited United for their performance.
They were second from bottom going into the game and it was their first-ever victory against Telford.
The Bucks are now preparing for the visit of Alfreton Town – who have lost three on the spin in the league – on Saturday.
On United, Edwards said: "They were very organised without the ball, difficult to break down.
"Full credit to them as they then picked us off with a few counter-attacks."
