There's a lot more to come, says AFC Telford's Jordan Murphy

AFC Telford United forward Jordan Murphy insists fans are yet to see the best of him, declaring: “I’ve got a lot more in my locker.”

The 21-year-old Walsall youth product has scored three goals since signing for the Bucks in September.

He has featured on the right wing in recent weeks, and said: “It was a case of waiting for that first start and at the moment I’m playing out on the right.

“I came into an attack that was playing well and scoring goals so I had to bide my time a bit.

“I may be slightly out of position, but I have played there before and I am growing in confidence – I am just happy to be playing.

“I want to extend this run of starts now, I don’t want to be dropping out of the team anytime soon.

“But if I do, I’ll work as hard as I can to get back in.”

Murphy impressed for Worcester City in National League North last term and has also been at league rivals Kidderminster Harriers.

“There is definitely more to come from me, I’d like to think I’ve got a lot more in my locker to show the fans,” he said.

“I am aiming to chip in with a lot more goals, I’m not going to just settle with three.

“I want to provide assists as well, being on the right, and help us to win games.”

The Bucks have lost three of their last four games.

They welcome Alfreton Town to the New Bucks Head on Saturday, sitting 14th – four points off the play-offs and six ahead of the relegation zone – going into the encounter.

“I personally think that we have been unlucky over the last few weeks,” said Murphy.

“We have dominated possession in all of our last four matches but we just haven’t been able to pick up the results that we wanted.”

Murphy signed for Telford after a short stint at Stourbridge in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier.

He made two senior appearances for the Saddlers

Murphy added: “Having dropped out of full-time football after leaving Walsall, it’s difficult going from training four or five times a week to just one or two.

“Here though, we are training four times a week and this is effectively a full-time club.

“There is a lot expected of you, and we are all working hard to try to pick up wins and climb up the table.”
