AFC Telford boss Rob Edwards praises 'excellent' Sylvan Ebanks-Blake
AFC Telford United boss Rob Edwards has hailed Sylvan Ebanks-Blake as 'excellent' after a memorable debut for the striker.
The former Wolves forward, aged 31, scored twice as the Bucks beat Droylsden 4-2 in the FA trophy.
He got more than 80 minutes under his belt at the New Bucks Head and Edwards said: "It is great. Goalscorers want to score goals, they are happy when they are scoring goals.
"I thought he looked excellent today. To be honest, I didn't really anticipate – or want to – keep him on the pitch for as long as he stayed on really.
"I was conscious of his fitness, it's his first game in a long time.
"I thought he was excellent, he was clinical. He held it up well and is a leader so I am really pleased for him."
Ebanks-Blake's first goal was a cool side-footed finish and the second a close-range header.
"He has come here to work hard, be a leader and score goals – and show people he is around," Edwards said.
"He certainly did that today and we want that going forward."
On the team's performance against the Bloods – who play two divisions below Telford – Edwards added: "The cup is about winning but you want to try to do it in a certain way.
"I'm a little bit frustrated, If I am being honest. We have got to learn, quickly."
