Bernard McNally: Sylvan Ebanks-Blake can have a massive impact at AFC Telford

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake has joined AFC Telford United and made a huge impact on his debut.

He scored twice in a 4-2 win against Droylsden in the FA Trophy and he should prove to be a very big asset for the Bucks.

I saw him last season at Shrewsbury and he was off the pace – lacking the pace he had during his Wolves days, and injuries have played a large part in that.

Aged 31, Sylvan should have a few years left in him and I suspect that he will have more than enough to trouble a lot of defences in National League North.

He is not the quickest these days but he is clever, has exceptional movement in the box and hopefully he will stick around for a while.

It would be nice to see him remain with Telford – who have a tough game in store at Spennymoor Town on Saturday – for a couple of years, and be an experienced head to guide the young squad as they look to build and really bring the good times back.
