AFC Telford's John Marsden out to maintain his fine form

The Bucks have enjoyed victories against Tamworth and Droylsden in the past couple of weeks, Marsden scoring in each and earning the man-of-the-match award for both – after overcoming an ankle injury.

“I’m just delighted to be back out there," he said.

“The two goals and two man-of-the-match awards are nice, of course, but it is about the team.

“There is a real sense of togetherness here at the moment and we have shown that over the past couple of weeks – we have dug deep to get the wins.

“We didn’t start well against Droylsden and it wasn’t the best of games against Tamworth, but we won both of them because we showed character.

“If we all stick together, I feel that we can really start to push on and put a real run together.”

Despite his fine form, Marsden knows he cannot get too comfortable.

There is a lot of competition for places in forward areas following the arrival of former Wolves man Sylvan Ebanks-Blake.

The likes of Anthony Dwyer and Jordan Murphy have had to make do with spots on the bench in recent weeks while Max Leonard is pushing for Marsden’s No.10 role.

“It’s good. I pushes every player to give their absolute maximum and we’ve got players to come off the bench that are capable of scoring goals,” added Marsden.

“You have to be on your toes.”
