The 18-year-old has joined until the end of the season from Premier League side Huddersfield Town.

He helped England Under-20s win the Toulon Tournament last summer and went on the Terriers’ pre-season trip to Austria.

“He’s a very good, talented young goalkeeper ,” said Edwards.

“He is someone we have been aware of for quite a while now.

"Ryan wants to come and play and that’s what you want, good competition for Jas Singh.

“He has some experience in National League North, having spent time on loan at FC United of Manchester last season, and that’s important.

"There were other teams in the league looking at him so we’re really pleased to have secured his signature.”

The Bucks looked to sign Wolves shot-stopper Jack Ruddy on a temporary basis before shifting their attention towards Schofield.

He is contracted at Huddersfield until 2019 and his loan is set to run through any possible play-off campaign.

There is a recall clause in the deal, though.
