The former Wolves and Shrewsbury frontman scored his first league goals for the Bucks with a double in Tuesday’s 5-3 defeat to York in the National League North.

The 31-year-old is up to four goals in all competitions for the side he joined in November. Boss Edwards, who is looking to stop the rot of three straight defeats as his side welcome Nuneaton Town tomorrow, insists his desire is there to succeed.

“I would have thought the lads will feel he can score chances we make,” said the Telford chief. “He’s been there and done it and shown that he can consistently score goals at a higher level than we are right now.

“He’s still at a good age. He’s hungry and he wants to do it, I think it could be the start of something very good for him.

“Let’s hope he can play a big part – every good team needs goalscorers.

“Sylv certainly is that. He got his first couple of goals in the league but it’s four now so he’s got up and running.

“And we’re looking for that to continue.”

Telford earned a 2-0 victory at Nuneaton’s Liberty Way home in early September. Since then former boss Tommy Wright left to join division strugglers Darlington, one point and position below Telford in 20th.

Now under the guidance of Tunisian Dino Maamria, the Boro have secured back-to-back wins against high-flying Harrogate and Gainsborough to climb up to 15th.

Edwards added: “They’ve had a great couple of wins. They’re a good team.

“But we know if we start the game like we played in that second-half (against York) then we’re a match for anyone.

“We showed York what we can do. We’re looking forward to the challenge. We need to be on it and we need a reaction, I’m sure the lads will give it.

“It’s important to get back on the mark with points.

“Before losing these three tough games, there was a couple of good points but they were only one point against Brackley and Kiddy.

“It’s important to get back to wins as soon as possible.”

Bucks winger Elliot Newby was nursing a hamstring injury at training last night.
