Rob Edwards: AFC Telford can pull away from trouble
Boss Rob Edwards insists his AFC Telford United side ‘will be fine’ and will start pulling away from the drop zone if they can replicate Saturday’s performance at Harrogate for the rest of the campaign.
The Bucks were well in the clash with the league’s second placed side, but two quality goals from Joe Leesley and Simon Ainge proved to be the difference.
They’ve now dropped into the bottom two, but the boss is upbeat with key games to come against rivals in the table.
Edwards admitted he doesn’t want to be talking about good performances, without having the points to back it up. But he stressed there would be no worries if they performed like they did on Saturday.
Edwards said: “The lads gave me everything, the performance was there, the lads were in the game for the 90 minutes, we just came up short.
"They are a good bunch of lads who are working hard and producing good performances.
“There is no need to panic. If we produce that level of togetherness and performance, we’ll be fine.”
Jordan Murphy came off the bench in north Yorkshire to grab a consolation goal, but it was too little too late for the Bucks.
Edwards said: “We can take solace from having games against teams around us, but we need to pick up points.”
Edwards has already added three new faces to his squad so far in January, but has admitted he knows where he needs to strengthen, and he still plans to freshen up his squad.
He added: “We know what positions we need to add too.
“The squad is strong but we need to have some experience in there as well, and we will keep working to bring bodies in.
“It is key to freshen things up.
“We are happy with what we have got, but we want to add some more bodies.
