AFC Telford's spirits still high, says Sean Parrish
Assistant boss Sean Parrish insists AFC Telford United remain in high spirits despite their league position.
The Bucks are second from bottom in National League North and had their scheduled trip to Southport on Saturday postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
Telford have now had five games fall foul to the weather this season.
They are set to have six matches this month, mainly against sides in the bottom half, and Parrish said: “We’ve really got to get wins.
“We’ve had a tough run of games against the likes of Kidderminster Harriers, Salford City and Harrogate Town.
“But these games will be just as hard, if not even harder.
“There’s a good spirit in the squad. It’s been installed in the squad and the effort is always there.
“We need to do it in both boxes, that’s what it’s all about. We have to be clinical in both boxes.”
Up next for the Bucks is a home clash with rock-bottom North Ferriby United.
Curzon Ashton, Tamworth, Spennymoor Town, FC United of Manchester and Nuneaton will also face Telford before the end of the month.
Parrish and boss Rob Edwards have been pleased with the effort of the players in training in recent weeks.
And Parrish says they are keeping things simple – giving the players clear instructions.
“We are sticking together and there is a good effort in training,” he said. We’re positive. Rob is as positive as everybody.
“He’s not asking the players to do things they can’t do.
“We’re keeping it simple and it’s for the players to be taking it in. They have had smiles on their faces.”
Telford have played the least games in National North, with 25, this season due to the postponements.
A new date for the game at Haig Avenue will likely be announced in the next few days.
On the Southport game being called off, Edwards said: “I’m obviously frustrated but it’s out of our control.”
Meanwhile, the Bucks remain on the hunt for an experienced centre-half after conceding 46 goals in their 25 league games.
It is believed Edwards went on a scouting mission on Saturday afternoon.
Telford made a double signing on Friday, bringing in striker Amari Morgan-Smith on an 18-month deal from York City and goalkeeper Ben Wilson on loan from Cardiff City until the end of the campaign.
