The 18-year-old forward has made one appearance in League One for Town, against Oxford United last campaign.

He had a successful loan spell at Halesowen Town in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier – a tier below the Bucks – earlier this term.

Salop boss Paul Hurst said: "It's a step up for John.

"I spoke with (Telford chief) Rob (Edwards) at a game last week and we spoke as the week progressed, there's no guarantees for him that he'll play.

"I've said all along that I never send players out to have that power over another club or manager.

"I know what it's like as a manager, you want to pick your best team.

"If a loanee is not in that then they shouldn't play. But speaking to John we both felt it was a good option for him and he's got to earn the right to get into that team."

McAtee is set to be involved in Telford's National League North home clash against Curzon Ashton tomorrow night (kick-off 7.45pm).
