Rob Edwards pleads for supporters to get behind AFC Telford

Boss Rob Edwards has called on AFC Telford United's fans to 'really get behind' the players as they take on FC United of Manchester tomorrow.

The Bucks could really do with a win as they are third bottom, four points from safety in National League North.

FC United are expected to bring a good number of supporters after filling the Frank Nagington Stand for an FA Cup fourth round clash in October, which Telford won 3-1.

Edwards wants the home crowd to make their voices heard, and said: "They'll bring down a good number of fans.

"The fans have helped build that club from nothing and travel in numbers. They back them win, lose or draw.

"We want our fans to be loud as well and really get behind the lads as that's what we need.

"We got a couple of goals right at the death against them in the cup but we deserved to win on the day so to repeat that would be a great feeling.

"I'd be nice, although for my sanity and for my heart I'd sooner not leave it so late."

FC United are six points and five places better off than the Bucks. They won the reverse fixture in the league 3-1, back in November.

Telford will be buoyed by the fact the visitors have won just two of their eight National North outings in 2018 – both of those at home.

"There's a lot of teams in the mix and FC United will still feel as if they're one of those," said Edwards.

"They'll be eager to get the win. They're organised and difficult to break down – we found that out when we went there.

"We missed a really good chance in that game and then conceded a couple of sloppy goals on the counter-attack.

"Tom Greaves has done well in charge there and it will be a tough challenge."

The Bucks are hoping to get back on track on home soil. Their last game at the New Bucks Head was a disastrous 3-0 defeat to Curzon Ashton.

Edwards added: "We're going to have to be at it and on the front foot right from the start.

"If we're not, they'll set up and we might find it difficult to break through."
