The 28-year-old has scored three goals in six games for the Bucks.

He was sent off at Southport recently, though, ruling him out of today’s clash with Darlington.

The last of Morgan-Smith’s three-match ban is Monday’s trip to Bradford Park Avenue, and Edwards said: “Amari has made a good impact but others have staked their claim now.

“Marcus Dinanga scored on Tuesday (in the 1-0 win at Alfreton) and Kane Richards did well too, the pair of them could have scored a couple each.

“Then John Marsden and Jordan Murphy came off the bench and did well.

“Amari is suspended and once he’s back, there’s four forward players who will be saying ‘hang on, I deserve to be in the team’.

“Amari has to really work hard to get back in the team – and that’s exactly what you want as a manager.”

Morgan-Smith was signed from National League North rivals York City, shortly after the departure of former Wolves and Shrewsbury Town man Sylvan Ebanks-Blake.

Meanwhile, Bucks midfielder Louis McGrory has had his loan stay at Sutton Coldfield Town extended until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old joined the Evo-Stik Northern Premier outfit initially on a month’s loan, having not played for Telford since coming on for the last quarter of an hour against Southport on October 28.

McGrory is formerly of Forest Green Rovers and had a spell on trial at League Two side Newport County last summer.

The Exiles were thought to be interested in signing him, but were unable to complete a deal, and the Bucks then swooped in at the end of August.

“Neil (Tooth, Sutton Coldfield boss) has been happy with how he has been progressing there, which is pleasing,” added Edwards.

“Louis needs regular games so it suits all parties.”
