AFC Telford United striker Kane Richards feels he and Marcus Dinanga can be a potent pairing during the crucial run-in.

The duo have looked lively up front as of late for the Bucks, who are third bottom in National League North with eight games to go.

Dinanga is the club’s top scorer, on 19 goals across all competitions, and Richards hopes to open his account at Blyth Spartans tomorrow.

“I’m enjoying it here. The trust has been put in me to play up top with Marcus,” said Richards, who has played four games for Telford since signing from Dover Athletic a couple of weeks ago.

“There’s nothing better than playing games, now the aim is to be winning more of them.

“Marcus is a good player – and we have a lot of good players here at the club.

“We have played well together over the last couple of games.

“As a striker, you always want to score goals. I want to get more goals.

“I haven’t played up top with Amari (Morgan-Smith) yet, but the way me and Marcus have been playing, we can do well. It’s been good playing up there with Marcus as we’re quite similar players and our pace and skill scares teams.

“Now we just have to make sure we’re putting the ball into the net to get the goals we need.”

The Bucks head to play-off chasing Blyth on the back of a 2-1 defeat at Bradford Park Avenue on Monday, in which Dinanga scored a first-half penalty.

Richards – who has also played for Chester and Gainsborough Trinity – felt the performance at Horsfall Stadium was not bad, but insists he and his teammates were made to pay for a lack of killer instinct in front goal.

“We were disappointed after the game on Monday night,” he added.

“We had enough chances against Bradford to get the win, to put the game to bed.

“That’s gone now, though, and we believe we can go up to Blyth and get three points.

“It’s about piling pressure on the other teams around us, we’re confident that we’ll get out of the relegation zone and stay in this division.”
