Rob Edwards: Telford defeat is tough to take

The Bucks were undone as the Magpies made the most of their big chances, with Elliot Newby's spot-kick proving too little too late.

They remain in the National League North drop zone.

"I don't think there was much in the game, to be honest," said Edwards, whose charges were unsure the match would go ahead due to the New Bucks Head pitch being boggy.

"It's difficult. The ground staff do their best, but it's difficult with the conditions we've got.

"There was not much football played. It's a leveller for both teams, the style of football is dictated by the pitch."

Alex Newby - Elliot's twin brother - and Marcus Carver got the goals for Chorley.

"There was not much in it. From one ball, we got done down the side and then we've talked about it a lot recently, not conceding the second goal - staying in the game," added Edwards.

"It was really disappointing, how we conceded the second goal. We didn't track runners and found ourselves 2-0 down.

"If you don't concede the second, you've always got a chance. We got one back but then we weren't able to create.

"It's a tough one to take. I think a draw probably would have been a fair result.

"When you give away, though, the second goal as we did, it's tough to put forward a case that we deserved something from it."
