AFC Telford boss Rob Edwards: We deserved a point

The Bucks put in a great shift but Darren Stephenson put away the Hatters' only major chance to take the spoils.

Telford remain two points above the National League North drop zone, with four games to go.

When asked if he believed a draw would have been fair, Edwards said: "I do, for our effort and the chances we created in those last five or 10 minutes. I really thought we were going to get one.

"I didn't feel too threatened too often, Ben Wilson didn't have to make too many saves.

"We made some great blocks and defended the box extremely well. I thought we were good value for a point, but in football you don't always get what you deserve. I thought we were slightly hard done by.

"I've spoken to the players in the dressing room after the game, they've given absolutely everything.

"It was always going to be tough coming here but we felt that if we came with a game-plan, we could frustrate them - try to stay in it and get something.

"It very nearly paid off. The lads are upset that it was a bit scrappy, but it was probably always going to be that way."

Next up for Edwards' charges is a long trip to Blyth Spartans on Tuesday night.

The Bucks chief added: "There's no blame on anyone as everybody gave us 100 per cent. They were fully committed, and I was really pleased with a lot of the players.

"We just have to pick ourselves up - no blame game, no finger-pointing - as there's a big game coming up at Blyth now."
