Bernard McNally: Edwards will have learned lots this year

What a lift it was for AFC Telford United to get that big 1-0 win at Blyth on Tuesday night!

Saturday’s home game against Gainsborough Trinity, who are below the Bucks in the table, is crucial to mathematically make things certain in avoiding the drop.

But Rob Edwards and his side will also want to sign off at home on a positive note.

This season has been a big learning curve for Rob. He’s come in from academy football and it’s about getting them playing.

There isn’t that importance in the academies, there never is.

It’s when you step up where three points are absolutely vital.

He’s learned about the league. I know I felt that my football coaching would be able to handle it, but it’s a big wake-up call or reality check.

You’ve got to be able to compete physically and mentally first of all. I imagine he’ll set his stall out different next year to what he did this year.
