Bernard McNally column: AFC Telford would be bold to go full-time

It would be a bold statement from AFC Telford United if they went full-time.

If the Bucks’ backing increases then Telford could really move forward and away from three successive relegation scraps.

It’s back to the age-old issue of funding. Will the money attract better, stronger players to Rob Edwards’ team? They won’t come for £200. They’re going to want more.

I’m interested to see how the era pans out. Fans want to be involved with clubs they have helped raise but the game has changed so much over the last couple of decades, to be able to be a fan-owned club is very difficult.

You do need money input from somewhere. A lot of clubs who have had fans take over have found it a struggle, and they realise that.

Telford fans may be a mixed bag with their views towards it, but I think some will certainly be excited by the prospect of more investment. I’d like to see it.
