AFC Telford United will remain part-time, the club announce

The New Bucks Head chief released a statement this morning addressing numerous points, including an evaluation of last season, financial restraints off the field and a new era on the pitch.

Former Telford favourites from a 'golden era' in Gavin Cowan and Phil Trainer have been appointed in a revamped managerial team.

There were suggestions throughout the end of Rob Edwards' sole campaign at the helm, and since Cowan took charge earlier this month, that the Bucks may look to become a full-time football club.

The chairman announced that Cowan will train with his squad three times each week, with the usual Tuesday and Thursday evenings added to by a Monday morning session.

Pryce's statement read: "There has been a lot of talk about the club becoming ‘Full Time’, but at our current level of income and investment this is not possible.

"With that said for the 2018/19 season the team will be part time and will be in intensive training on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, in addition to this the team will also train on a Monday morning which gives Gavin and his management team valuable extra time to work with his new squad."

It added on the new management team: "Gavin and Phil bring exactly the right characteristics and have been very forthright in setting out their ambition for the team which we all share.

"We want a team that the fans are to be proud of; a team which works hard; a team which plays good football; a group of players which above all else is proud to represent this famous club and which, on your behalf, puts in everything during their time at the club.

"Gavin and Phil are two huge characters from what was a Golden Era at the club. I know they will use their experience of that time to instil in the players exactly what is required and use that to propel us forward into this new era."

Pryce said that the club will continue to look at all aspects 'off the field' to build on 'foundations of stability, continuity, good solid structure' as well as making the National League North club 'sustainable, not just for now but long into the future.'

The statement revealed a fans' forum will be held in the near future.
