Gavin Cowan: There's no limit for AFC Telford

Gavin Cowan insists he 'don't see a limitation' on what AFC Telford United can achieve under his management.

The Bucks get the National League North campaign started with a home clash against Southport tomorrow.

And answering questions at a fans' forum last night, Cowan did not give a specific aim – such as promotion or the play-offs – but said: "I don't see a limitation on things.

"Do I think I can bring back those days when me and Phil (Trainer, assistant) played here? Yes I do.

"I don't see a roof on anything. We've gone through a target of what we want to achieve.

"I think I've got a group of players who can really compete.

"I don't think there'll be a team more organised than us in the league.

"I think we'll pull off some surprises. I've set myself a two-year plan and I think we can really be successful.

"There are teams on a completely different level to us, financially, and the chairman don't mind me saying that.

"But I think we can achieve great things. It's always honest from me.

"I think we'll give people value for money, better than what we've been the last few years."

Telford finished 14th in the division last season, and spent the two terms prior battling against the drop.

Chairman Andy Pryce was also answering questions from supporters and said: "We've got to realise where we are.

"We know where we are, we know where our budget is in the league.

"Gav knows what we need from him. We just want a season now where we're not fighting in the relegation zone, but we're competitive.

"To be competitive week in and week out, that's all we want. We want to give every team a good game."

And Pryce says the current crop of Bucks players are with the club for the right reasons – they are driven by enjoyment and success, not money.

"They do want money, of course they do," he added.

"But the players have bought into what we're trying to do, it's not a financial thing for them.

"They've brought into what we're trying to do here.

"You'll always get players travelling extra for £5 more a week, they're fuelled by that.

"These lads aren't fuelled by that. Every single one has bought into it."

Pryce did say, though, players will receive pay rises if they deserve them.
