Gavin Cowan warns AFC Telford not to get carried away
AFC Telford United boss Gavin Cowan has urged his charges to keep their feet on the ground following their fine start to the season.
The Bucks kicked off the National League North campaign with a 1-0 win against Southport last weekend and drew 0-0 at Kidderminster Harriers on Tuesday.
They head to Guiseley tomorrow and when asked what he wants from his players, Cowan said: "More of the same, and more.
"We've got an expectation of ourselves in that changing room.
"I've said to the players they'll get some plaudits over this week – but don't get too excited when things are going well, and don't get too down when they're not.
"You've got to really keep that equilibrium amongst the group.
"They're a great group of lads who are really applying themselves at the moment.
"We've just got to make sure we continue to get the best out of them."
Meanwhile, Telford are confident their new home kit will be delivered in time for Tuesday's game against Brackley Town at the New Bucks Head.
A blunder from manufacturers Hummel left the Bucks embarrassed, with them being forced to wear their blue away strip in the home victory against Southport. Fans who pre-ordered the shirts online have also been left frustrated.
Fortis Sport, based in Hortonwood, were announced as Telford's kit supplier on a three-year deal earlier this summer.
Fortis offered the Bucks three manufacturers and the club chose Hummel.
Telford say they were promised an eight-week turnaround from Hummel on the bespoke kit, 16 weeks ago.
They are not the only side that has been affected – Charlton Athletic finally received their adult Hummel home kit yesterday but are still without the junior home strips or the away design. Forest Green Rovers have had problems too, as have Weston Super Mare.
An official announcement from the club is expected to be made soon.
