We’re no pushovers, insists AFC Telford boss Gavin Cowan

The Bucks have started the National League North campaign in unbeaten style – picking up one win and two draws.

They are hoping to put in another strong display against the Saints, who won 3-1 at the New Bucks Head last campaign and stormed to a 6-0 triumph the term prior, tonight.

“Brackley are a very strong, resolute side who will be looking to continue their good run of form against us,” said Cowan.

“They’ll be facing a very different proposition this time around though.

“The group are all feeling very secure in where we’re at, how we’ve done so far.

“It’s been good for the most part.

“We would’ve liked to have nicked the win at Guiseley on Saturday as we deserved it, we had a lot of possession and some decent chances.

“We got the lads in for training yesterday and worked on our finishing so we’re ready to go.

“There’s been a great attitude and application from the players so far.

“It’s about carrying that on against Brackley. We are looking forward to it.”

Brackley, who won the FA Trophy at Wembley in May and finished third in the division last season before losing the play-off final to Harrogate Town, have had a slightly surprising start to this campaign.

They have won one and lost two, their most recent result being Saturday’s 4-2 loss to Darlington on home soil.

Meanwhile, Cowan has praised striker Andre Brown after making an impact as a substitute in the weekend’s 1-1 draw at Guiseley.

Brown came on in the 73rd minute and won a penalty just a couple of moments later, being tripped by Jon Worsnop.

He then kept his cool from the spot, sending Worsnop the wrong way for his first Telford goal.

“A slight knee injury meant that Andre wasn’t quite fit to start on Saturday,” said Cowan.

“He came on though and looked lively, did really well to win the penalty and then got himself the goal from the spot.

“It was a good performance from him so we’re pleased.”
