Theo Streete hails impact of AFC Telford boss Gavin Cowan

The Bucks sit third after 10 National League North games – five wins, four draws and one loss.

They were today turning their attention to the FA Cup, hosting Bedford Town.

“I think we’ve surprised a lot of people but, as a group, we always knew how good we could be,” said Streete, a close friend of Cowan who joined over the summer from Brackley Town.

“We had a chat as a group at the start of the season and the gaffer asked us what we wanted the season to be, as we had the talent for it to be whatever we wanted it to be.

“The gaffer and the staff did a really good job with the recruitment.

“They brought in players who can take criticism and dish it out, in a constructive way, when needed.

“The big thing is that there are no egos here.

“I’ve been in teams before where we’ve really struggled despite having a lot of good players – and that’s because the attitude wasn’t right.

“We’re all on the same page. There’s no cliques, no separate groups.”

Streete has become a fans’ favourite with his wholehearted displays at the back and added: “It’s been really good that the fans have taken to me.

“And it’s not just myself, it’s all of the new players.

“I feel like I’ve been here and played with these lads for at least 30 games.

"We’ve shown what we can do, you’ve seen our team spirit.

“We can achieve good things this year.”
