The 29-year-old made his return to action as a substitute in the 1-0 defeat at Blyth Spartans at the weekend after several weeks on the sidelines with a knee problem.

He overcame the knock with the help of former Shrewsbury physio Chris Skitt and Shrewsbury-based business Cryozone Health – via Cowan – and said: “I’ve been getting help from various people, various business, over the last few weeks and I’m really grateful for all of that.

“Gav got me those treatments through his connections in the area, his contacts, so I want to repay him for that.”

Morgan-Smith was on the scoresheet as Telford began the campaign with a 1-0 victory over Southport.

And, with the injury behind him, he is aiming to close the gap on the Bucks’ top scorer Daniel Udoh, who has struck 10 times this term.

“From a personal point of view, it’s been quite frustrating,” said Morgan-Smith.

“I was feeling really good before it happened. It was one of those freak injuries – my foot was stuck in the ground and my body went the other way – but these things happen.

“I’m just happy to be back now and looking forward to pushing as hard as I can to get into the team.

“As a striker, you always want to get as many goals as possible.

“Hopefully one or two will drop for me in the next few weeks and I can catch up with Dan.”

He added: “The team’s morale has been fantastic.

“And that spirit really helped me while I was injured.

“Whether you’re playing or not, you always feel a part of this group.”
