AFC Telford turn focus to tricky FA Cup trip

The National League North Bucks go into the third qualifying round clash as favourites as they are a division above the Yellows.

Warrington are leading the way in the Northern Premier, though, while Telford have lost their last two outings on the road.

It has all the makings of an exciting Cup encounter and Cowan said: "Everybody here is absolutely raring to go.

"We're as focused as ever going into it, determined to do well.

"It's been an enjoyable, intense week of training for the lads.

"They have all had to work really hard this week and there's been a bit of a different demeanour around the place.

"The players have been absolutely meticulous in their preparation for the game."

Hosts Warrington have several players with experience at a higher level – former Bucks forward Tony Gray being one of them.

And Cowan is fully aware of the quality in the Cantilever Park side.

"They're a team that's doing really well in their league," he said.

"They've got plenty of players who have played at a higher level.

"I think they wanted to make a real go of it this season. They went out and got a lot of talented players and, so far, it has worked for them.

"We would never dream of underestimating them. You can never afford to do that.

"That kind of thinking doesn't happen with this group of players.

"They have prepared for the game like any other and they expect a tough game."

Since the club's reformation in 2004, the furthest Telford have got in the competition is the second round proper – losing 2-0 at Bristol City in the 2014/15 season.

Last campaign, the Bucks reached the first round proper – being downed 1-0 at Hereford.

Telford, who will receive £15,000 if they win tomorrow, famously reached the fifth round of the Cup in 1984/85.

They beat Lincoln, Preston, Bradford and Darlington before bowing out with a 3-0 defeat to Everton at Goodison Park.
