Gavin Cowan: Only one team turned up to play football

Telford dominated possession throughout, but were punished for a string of missed early chances when George Lloyd scrambled the ball home mid way through the first half.

The Bucks, in front of the second biggest home crowd of the season, 1,804 in total, battled back with chances, before Daniel Udoh fired in off the post from 20 yards.

Matt Yates’ double save from Darryl Knights in the second period kept the scores level, before Hereford banked up with ten men behind the ball for large parts and earned a gritty point.

Cowan was disappointed after the game, and labelled it as two points dropped.

But he said it was a compliment to his side that Hereford came and played how they did.

He said: “It was was a missed chance, but that shows how far we have come.

“I can’t ask any more of the players, but the game should have been over in five minutes.

“We’ve had something like five chances in five minutes, and you’re thinking what sort of day it is going to be.

“But it was a brilliant footballing display again, we were excellent without possession.

“But we are disappointed as it is two points dropped.

“It is a compliment to use that they played the way they played, with ten men behind the ball.

“There is a lot of things I want to say about it, but it is not up to me to comment about that.”

Knights passed up three good chances in the opening minutes of the first half, before Henry Cowans was robbed of the ball in his own box by Lloyd who put the Bulls in front.

Goalkeeper Yates then produced a superb and despite their second half dominance, the Bucks failed to test the keeper again.

Cowan added: “I think Knightsy has to score that, he has done the keeper a favour by hitting it straight at him.

“I think maybe we need to work hard higher and wider and work the keeper more than we did in the second half.

“But I don’t want hanging heads and being down beat, because that was a good performance.

“It was just a shame we couldn’t bring three points home.”
