Gavin Cowan urges fans to believe in Telford
Gavin Cowan has urged supporters to continue to ‘trust the process’ following AFC Telford United’s best victory of the season.
The Bucks are fifth in National League North on the back of Saturday’s 4-0 triumph at Southport.
And when asked if he has a very good team on his hands, Cowan said: “I’ve been saying it for months. I’ve just asked for people to believe in it, to trust me, trust the process.
“Keep trusting in that and believing in it as it’s something, as the weeks go on, people are asking questions, and we keep answering them.
“To come up against Liam Watson, someone who I respect very highly and understands this level inside out, and do what we have done, the players deserve real credit.”
Jon Royle, Marcus Dinanga, Daniel Udoh and Ellis Deeney got the goals against Watson’s side.
Dinanga and Udoh were particularly impressive up front, with Dinanga getting his first goal since returning to the club on a permanent basis and Udoh scoring his 18th of the campaign.
Cowan insists that was down to extra work those two, Amari Morgan-Smith and Andre Brown have been putting in on the training ground. He added: “Myself and Matthew Barnes-Homer have been bringing the strikers in on a Friday morning.
“We did it for the first time, actually, this past Friday, and we did a lot of work on one facing up, interchanging and playing on opposites – and two of the goals came from that.”
Centre-half Theo Streete and playmaker Darryl Knights were not involved because of slight injuries.
Cowan says the pair could have been involved at a push, but that would not have been fair on the rest of the squad.
“We could’ve probably got them over the line, but we didn’t want to risk them,” he added.
