Midfielder Ellis Deeney insists AFC Telford United players have become accustomed to the pressure and expectancy on them this season.

The 27-year-old has been a mainstay of Gavin Cowan’s Bucks team this season that have defied expectations on more than one front.

Deeney and Telford have begun preparations for this weekend’s huge FA Trophy semi-final first leg at former Football League side Leyton Orient, who are top of the National League.

“You’ve always got those sort of goals and targets you set yourselves,” said former Villa youngster Deeney.

“Outside the changing room, before the start of the season, nobody was expecting anything.

“I think they’ve (the fans) seen the group that we’ve got, they’ve got some expectations for us. That’s just pressure, but we put pressure on ourselves.”
