AFC Telford taking it slow in the play-off race
Boss Gavin Cowan has urged play-off chasing AFC Telford United not to look past tomorrow’s test against Curzon Ashton.
The clash with the Nash at the New Bucks Head is one of four games left as Cowan’s charges try to see out a superb season in National League North.
They go into it seventh – the final play-off place – three points ahead of nearest challengers Blyth Spartans.
“We’ve got four games left, four games that are of huge importance,” said Cowan.
“And I know that it is a cliché, but we’ve just got to take each game as it comes and not get distracted by the overall task.
“That’s just how we’ve got to look at it.
“We’ve just got to focus on Curzon and picking up a result, and then look at the next one.”
The Bucks have drawn three on the spin – all 1-1 against Blyth, Chorley and Altrincham.
The draw against Alty was achieved right at the end on Tuesday night as Andre Brown came on to score a penalty.
Visitors Curzon have won their last three games against Telford, including a 3-0 triumph at the New Bucks Head last campaign.
They are on a four-match winless run in the league though.
“The character we’ve shown over the last few games has been pleasing,” added Cowan.
“We’ve just got to make sure we keep it up as we’re going to need that character over the next few weeks.”
