AFC Telford United boss salutes centurions
Kevin Wilkin hailed new Telford centurions Jordan Piggott and Byron Moore after the pair reached the milestone on Monday evening.
Piggott, 25, and Moore, 36, have been mainstays in the Bucks team since Wilkin’s arrival in 2022, and are the only two survivors from the squad he inherited.
And after naming both players in his starting 11 for Telford’s 3-1 loss at Redditch United, Wilkin heaped praise on two of his go-to men.
“They’re two players at different stages in their careers; obviously Byron is probably in the latter stages whereas Jordan has a whole lot of football ahead of him,” the Telford boss said. “Both of them are really good characters that manage the ball well, they’re both physically good. Especially Byron, at the age that he is, he conditions himself so well and covers ground really well, and Jordan, too, is obviously a great athlete who maybe just needs to believe in himself a little more.
“They’re the only two that have been with us since we joined the club, they’re good around the place and get on with their jobs, and most importantly are good footballers.
“It would be fair to say they’re big in the dressing room in different ways.
“Byron’s a man of few words, he won’t say a great deal but nonetheless he’s a great character and a great person, and Jordan much the same. I’ve enjoyed working with the pair of them up to now, and hopefully in the future as well.”
Victory at Redditch would have sent Telford top of the Southern Central Premier, but they fell 3-0 down before Matty Stenson bagged a late consolation.
