Rivals consider testing Aston Villa's stance on wing ace

Jaden Philogene’s future at Villa is in doubt with Everton exploring a permanent move for the winger this month.

The 22-year-old has struggled for form since returning to Villa in an £18million deal last summer and Unai Emery has confirmed he is likely to depart on loan in the current transfer window.

But Everton will consider testing the Villa boss’ resolve with an offer of a permanent switch if they can make the deal financially viable.

The two clubs have a good relationship having negotiated three transfers in the summer window, with Tim Iroegbunam moving to Goodison Park while Lewis Dobbin and Amadou Onana moved to Villa, the latter for a club record £50m fee.

Everton, along with Ipswich, were interested in signing Philogene last summer before Villa moved to bring the academy product back from Hull.

A loan swoop is not possible for the Toffees this month as they already have the maximum two permitted from rival Premier League clubs.

Valencia, meanwhile, have emerged as suitors for Kosta Nedeljkovic. The 19-year-old right-back is expected to leave on loan once Villa have signed another defender with Celta Vigo’s Oscar Mingueza among their targets.
