A second-half goal from Andre James was enough for Market Drayton Town to retain the TJ Vickers Shropshire Premier Challenge Cup.

James struck after 66 minutes to help Drayton to a 1-0 win over Shawbury United at Shrewsbury Town’s Greenhous Meadow.

Midland Premier side Shawbury were always up against it after Tom Taylor was dismissed just before the hour mark after picking up a second booking.

And James made them pay soon after when he slotted home a Lyndon Campbell cross.

James O’Neill hit the bar in the first half for Evo-Stik First Division South outfit Drayton and James found the net just after half-time but saw his effort ruled out for offside.

Shawbury pushed late on and had a couple of good opportunities, but Dave Richards’s men were unable to find an equaliser that would have forced extra-time in front of 241 spectators.
