Graham Turner is looking for Shrews to cash in

Boss Graham Turner insists his Shrewsbury team must make the most of their forthcoming run of fixtures, starting with Sheffield United at home on Saturday.

Turner's side will face bottom half of the table opposition in four of their next five League One matches, starting with this weekend's clash against Nigel Clough's Blades.

A tricky FA Cup tie at Walsall and a testing trip to ninth-placed Port Vale will follow before they meet second-from-bottom Notts County, 16th-placed Oldham Athletic and 17th-placed Stevenage.

And while Turner expects no easy games in this division, he admitted the run of fixtures represented a great chance to boost his team's current standing of 18th place after a tough start to the campaign.

He said: "We looked at the clubs we had to play at the start of the season and we felt it was a very difficult programme.

"We have now reached the stage where we are due to play quite a lot of the clubs around us in the bottom half of the table so we have got to make sure we take good points from that period. That won't be easy but we are capable of doing it and that is where we have got to push on and improve our league position."

Shrewsbury have had a testing start to the campaign, having faced nine of the current top 12 in their first 14 league games.

They should be boosted this weekend by the availability of creative midfielder Luke Summerfield, who has been training well this week after receiving an injection to remedy a groin injury.

Summerfield played just four minutes as a substitute during Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Brentford, having been replaced on 55 minutes in the 1-1 midweek draw against visiting Colchester United. But the 25-year-old had an injection on his troublesome groin before the Brentford game.

Asked if he was likely to be available this weekend, Turner said: "It would appear so. He is in full training so the injection might have been the cure that was required."

Meanwhile tickets for Town's trip to Port Vale on November 16 are now on sale.

Town have received an allocation of approximately 2,000 tickets for the game at Vale Park, priced at adults £22, seniors £17, young adult (18-21) £17, junior (12-17) £10 and under-12s free.
