Paul Hurst offers injury update on Joe Riley and Bryn Morris

Riley suffered a horror injury on the final day of last season, seeing him ruled out throughout the summer and the beginning of the 2017/18 season.

However, after coming on to score the winner for Salop in their 3-2 win over Coventry in the Checkatrade Trophy, Hurst believes a league return could be coming.

"Joe's continuing, he's been training everyday with no issues. He's said he's feeling better day by day, so fingers crossed that will continue." Hurst said.

"I think he may well be [fit enough to make the bench]. He travelled to Gillingham last week, it was just more a case of [it] didn't feel right [for him] to be on the bench for us as in what cover we'd got available to us.

"But you know, it might be different this week."

Meanwhile, Bryn Morris' return to action is still a few weeks away, as he continues to recover from successful knee surgery.

The 21-year-old picked up the injury in Salop's pre-season meeting with AFC Telford, but is also closing in on a return, albeit behind his teammate's current schedule.

"Bryn's had one session running, he wasn't out today but I think we are looking at two weeks before he might join in some of training." Hurst continued.

"That still, obviously he's not going to be in contention to go straight back in the team, but I think that's a date, unless anything's happened in the last day or so, that we're looking at.

"That's nice for Bryn to hopefully have a target and a day that's not that far away.

"He'll be desperate to get back involved having earned the right to be in the team and since then obviously have the operation, so that's pleasing."
