Paul Hurst 'excited' to see if Shrewsbury Town can continue good form heading into winter schedule
Paul Hurst admits that he's excited to see how Shrewsbury Town can cope as they prepare for the hectic winter period of the season.
Salop have been in fine league form since the start of the current campaign, quickly ridding themselves of any thoughts of relegation and instead find fans looking at promotion as a realistic possibility.
Sitting top of the table after 16 games, Town have lost just league fixture this season, and Hurst is keen to see if they can continue to perform.
"Because of how things have panned out I almost think that the Peterborough signalled the end of the first third of the season and we’ve now got to prepare for that next block of games”, Hurst said, via Shrewsbury Town's website.
“We will still take each game at a times, as the cliché goes, but there’s no doubt that the break in my opinion has come not at the worst time. It gives us a chance to re-charge and go again.
“It will take some doing to have anywhere near as successful a period, but at the same time we should be excited going into these games. The games over the festive period are usually good – good crowds, good atmosphere.
“We’ve got the FA Cup game to look forward to and the next stage of the Checkatrade Trophy, so from that point of view things are still very positive and I won’t let Tuesday night’s performance cloud the bigger picture, because we’ve got a lot of things to look forward to.”
Shrewsbury face a weekend without a game of any sort due to the international period, and next face Rotherham, who sit seventh in the League One table, 12 points behind Hurst's side.
Following that a trip to Bury awaits ahead of a traditionally congested December schedule.
